"My Spirit Level show includes Dickinson Gate, twelve feet high and made of translucent tubing. I like its mystery, its wing form, the way it looms and soars against its black background, with prayerful texts from Emily Dickinson attached. In the Name of the Bee and the Butterfly and the Breeze Amen. Hope is the Thing with Feathers that Perches in the Soul. My gate forms raise the question about journey and passage. What path is this? What interval of longing between a where-from and a where-to? The sculpture is a maquette for an outdoor piece in polished stainless steel."
