"Answering questions about my work is always the most appealing part about an opening. In my show “Void Filler”, the question I was asked the most was, how did I get the sculpture Cool Oblation to the gallery with out it breaking. I thought it was a great question. It is a very delicate piece that is suspended from the ceiling hovering an inch or two above the ground. It was in this same position in my studio when I made it. I knew it would be challenging to transport without damaging the work, so I built a crate around it while it was suspended. The crate was heavily padded on the inside and solid on the outside. I slid a 1” metal rod across the top of the crate and through the hook that the sculpture has on top. The rod was fasted to the top of the box and the cable was released. This maintained the suspension of the sculpture in the crate. I rolled it onto a truck and drove it to the gallery where I reversed the crating process. In a little more than a week I will be doing the process all over again."
